After conquering enormous waves crossing the channel during storm Emma we arrive in the UK faced with the collision of storm Emma and The Beast from the east. Both of us were keen to experience some extreme weather, perhaps this was a little more extreme than we imagined but hey that makes for a good story. We needed to get from Portsmouth to Dartmoor in Devon to stay with our friends who live on the edge of Dartmoor. From the forecast it was clear that we would be crossing the red warning zone and pretty much the eye of the storm. When things got really bad we teamed up with a couple in a Land rover defender 110 who as it turned out were just trying to get home. Digging snow, Recovery and a spinning of wheels followed for much of that night! Spending what little time remained that night sleeping at an abandoned Starbucks, that doesn’t happen every day!
Haha, that was good! I’d’ve stopped for the night at Portsmouth! You could do with heated wing mirrors like my ML320! It was a bit crazy wandering around snowy fields at 4am! Good fun though! I remember getting stuck one evening on a bridleway (where I shouldn’t have been driving…) and walking ten miles home at 12:30am in the pouring rain – at least it wasn’t snowing! If you never got stuck it wouldn’t be as much fun….
